ONIRIC FACTOR

Classic Platform Game Development

«Oniric Factor» is an independent Hispanic–Argentinian studio founded by Jorge Romero and Aldo Pucheta, focused on developing video games for classic systems and producing physical collector’s editions.

«We faithfully recreate the gaming experience of the late 20th century… today.»

ORIGINS

Aldo Pucheta – Buenos Aires
Jorge Romero – Sevilla

During the early years of the 21st century (2003–2010), Jorge focused on developing video games, DLLs, software tools, hacks, and translations from Seville under the pseudonym Fenris78. At the same time, Aldo was pursuing similar projects from Buenos Aires.

Years later, both developers crossed paths on the “ComunidadGM” forums, where they began collaborating informally.

In 2011, they decided to join forces and take a more professional step forward, officially founding Oniric Factor.

The studio’s distinctive name stems from a very specific idea:

«In every creative process, there is a stage in which the construct remains diffuse and ethereal, suspended between imagination and reality. The substance of this intangible space — the element that fills the gaps of impossibility and keeps the idea alive until it crystallizes — is essential for it to ultimately take form.»

We call this creative ether the “Oniric Factor.”

A PARADIGM SHIFT

Although the studio’s early projects focused on modern platforms, the direction changed unexpectedly during Christmas 2012, when an MSX computer arrived at Jorge’s home.

Having spent countless childhood hours staring at the green phosphor screen of a Dynadata DPC-200, the idea emerged naturally:

«We had to develop at least one studio game for this machine.»

That decision gave birth to Ninja Love and Dribol, two simple early titles through which the team rediscovered experiences that had all but vanished from the modern gaming landscape.

Aldo was eventually drawn in by the same enthusiasm:

«Jorge infected me with it… I’m not even from that generation. I had a NES.»

The extraordinary closeness to players — and the strong personality that the machine’s limitations imprint on each game, almost as if the hardware itself were another member of the team — marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Since then, “retro” has become inseparably embedded in the studio’s DNA. Oniric Factor now regularly develops new titles for MSX, NES, Game Boy, Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum, Sega Master System, and Intellivision — a list of new territories that continues to grow.

VIDEO GAMES AS CULTURAL OBJECTS

For Oniric Factor, a video game is far more than software.

It is the synergy that emerges from the sum of all its parts:

• The target hardware, which defines its aesthetic and personality
• The physical format, allowing it to be played on original systems
• The artwork, documentation, and packaging, meant to be handled, preserved, and admired

A large part of the classic gaming community shares this vision and identifies as collectors — just as we do.

For this reason, we focus on accompanying our titles with carefully designed physical editions conceived as true collector’s pieces.

We firmly believe that physical video games are an experience worth preserving.

BEYOND VIDEO GAMES

This way of understanding video games constantly drives us to explore new creative paths.

Lost Wind Platinum represents a significant step in that direction: its special edition includes a fully developed board game designed as a companion piece to the video game itself.

It is an ambitious project that required collaboration with specialized manufacturers, resulting in a true rara avis within the international homebrew scene.

This release marks a turning point in how we conceive physical editions — a philosophy we intend to continue developing in future projects.

COMMUNITY & SCENE

Oniric Factor has been an active part of the retro scene since its foundation.

From Spain, Jorge Romero has contributed to the growth of the MSX community as co-founder of «ASUR MSX», organizing numerous user meetings such as “RU MSX Sevilla” and collaborating on the «Conexión MSX «podcast.

Aldo Pucheta strengthens the studio’s presence across Latin America by participating in events and media initiatives such as the «Exposición de Videojuegos Argentina (EVA)» and the «Espacio TEC» museum in Bahía Blanca.

Our sphere of interest spans all classic platforms of the 20th century — from Atari systems to MS-DOS.

The studio actively shares space with fellow developers and encourages collaboration within the scene.

We believe that close cooperation is essential to maintaining a healthy and vibrant ecosystem.
